The Fill-in Boyfriend Review

The Fill-in Boyfriend by Kasie West.

When Gia Montgomery's boyfriend, Bradley, dumps her in the parking lot of her high school prom, she has to think fast. After all, she'd been telling her friends about him for months now. This was supposed to be the night she proved he existed. So when she sees a cute guy waiting to pick up his sister, she enlists his help. The task is simple: be her fill-in boyfriend—two hours, zero commitment, a few white lies. After that, she can win back the real Bradley.

The problem is that days after prom, it's not the real Bradley she's thinking about, but the stand-in. The one whose name she doesn't even know. But tracking him down doesn't mean they're done faking a relationship. Gia owes him a favour and his sister intends to see that he collects: his ex-girlfriend's graduation party—three hours, zero commitment, a few white lies.

Just when Gia begins to wonder if she could turn her fake boyfriend into a real one, Bradley comes waltzing back into her life, exposing her lie, and threatening to destroy her friendships and her new-found relationship.

First Thoughts

I was at the library, looking for an interesting book to read, (which was hard because the library has the smallest YA section ever.) when my mom came across this book and said I might like it. Wow, my mom is great at finding good YA books. When I started reading it I could not put it down, it was so good. So here's my honest opinion about this book.

Review

This book is written in such a way that makes it hard to put down, even for a second. It has a very good plot, with a slow part in the middle. Like "Bailey and The Bad Boy" you get so caught up in the book that you are at times 'silently screaming' at Gia and trying to tell her what to do.

"The Fill in Boyfriend" starts off at a moderate pace, which eventually slows down in the middle, and only speeds up a little toward the end. Speaking of the end, it stops rather abruptly, and kind of leaves you with a cliffhanger.

There is a second book but not one that continues on with this story. Hopefully Kasie West is writing another book to continue on the story so we can find out what happens next, I'd love to read that book.

Overall, this book has the swoon-worthy moments we all love, and the conflicts that are inevitable. Try "The Fill-in Boyfriend" for your next read this summer.

Rating

This book is suitable for, those who love YA romance books with ups, and downs.
